The Skills Funding Agency is an agency of the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS).
The SFA fund and regulate adult FE and skills training in England. They are part of a network of organisations in the country who commission, manage and market training for adults. They're mission is to ensure that people and businesses can access the skills training they need to succeed in playing their part in society and in growing England’s economy. They do this in the context of policy set by BIS and informed by the needs of businesses, communities and regions, and sector and industry bodies.
The ESF are committed to investing in jobs and skills in England – especially for people at a disadvantage in the labour market.
By investing £2 billion (which is matched to £2 billion of national funding), the programme will improve the skills and job prospects of 1.8 million people across England and Gibraltar in 2007-2013.

Each borough has been allocated a number of fully funded places for employees who are not normally eligible for Government funded training.
