The Skills Partnership

The Skills Partnership holds regular learner forum meetings and tele-forums for those who are studying with us or have recently completed a training course. Upcoming forum dates are now published on this website and candidates are invited to apply by clicking on our ‘Contact’ link at the top of this page and by providing your details.

We have published recent Learner Forum themes below and would welcome other learners to provide comments on these and on other topics that you would like to add. These themes are raised at relevant management team meetings and actions are  taken as a result of them. These themes will be updated on this forum regularly.

The idea is that you are able to influence the way in which The Skills Partnership develops and delivers its programmes and service.

We also encourage you, if participation in person or by telephone is not possible for you, to provide us with your comments via our contact form and we will include these entries within our themes.

Current Themes & Feedback

Active Leisure and Learning Courses:

• Those who complete their Personal Trainer qualification would benefit after their course from further support in terms of how to market their business and the psychology of working with customers
  TSP Feedback: TSP introduced Business and Marketing workshop days from Sep 2011 and previous candidates were invited to attend.
• Travelling to taught courses at peak times is more expensive, could course times be reviewed to take this into account.
  TSP Feedback: TSP tries to set course times to avoid full peak fares, unfortunately due to the time requirements courses are already programmed in over a full day.
• I think it would be good if TSP were able to provide some follow up short courses on specific equipment or training methods for gym workers
  TSP Feedback: New short courses in Circuits and Spinning are being researched to be launched in 2012
• Would be great if TSP were able to offer something further focused on Customer Retention and Membership Sales
• Sales training courses are in high demand in most gyms and fitness centres
  TSP Feedback: Sales is now a new live pathway for 2012

Use of IT (Information Technology):

• Please don’t lose the option of having written workbooks as these are easy to use when at work
  TSP Feedback: Written workbooks will remain available for candidates who prefer to use them.
• Would like to have option for all online resources to be able to be downloaded so that if an internet connection isn’t possible work can still be done eg. while on train etc.
• More content to be online for all courses
  TSP Feedback: TSP’s strategy is to provide all course resources online and this will include video files of workshop sessions.

Information About Courses:

• Include the fact that credits and courses can be used to gain entrance to University in course  information.
  TSP Feedback: Credit values are now part of our 2012 marketing materials.
